In this episode of Enter the Portal, I’m joined by astrologer, author, and change maker Leslie Tagorda for a conversation about astrology, leadership, identity, visibility, and what it means to really understand the way you’re here to lead.

Leslie shares how growing up mixed race in Hawaii shaped her relationship with belonging, comparison, and identity—and how those experiences followed her through careers in classical music, technology, branding, and entrepreneurship.

Eventually, astrology became this framework that helped her see herself in a completely different way.

We talk about using your birth chart as a tool for self-discovery and self-trust, rather than another place to look for predictions or answers outside of yourself. Leslie explains how the Sun, Moon, Rising sign, and Descendant can help us understand our creative power, emotional needs, the way we naturally take action, and the people we’re here to serve and co-create with.

One of my favorite parts of this conversation is the shift from asking, “How do I become a leader?” to asking, “How was I born to lead?”

We also get into why so many of us have a complicated relationship with the word leadership. We’ve been shown such a narrow version of what a leader looks like, and Leslie offers a really different way to think about it—one that’s rooted in reciprocity, shared power, responsibility, and community.

Leslie also opens up about her thyroid cancer diagnosis and the way that experience changed her relationship with her voice, especially the way she was speaking to herself. That journey became deeply woven into her upcoming book, Astrology for Change Makers, which looks at astrology as a language of change and a tool for personal transformation.

I love this reminder that astrology doesn’t have to tell us exactly what’s going to happen next. It can help us understand what’s already there, trust ourselves a little more, and see the ways we’re each here to lead differently.
